JB Turkey: International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Happy New Year JB World,

We wanted to end 2017 with a successful Mosaic Project, and we did!

In our world there are lots of disabled people.  We wanted to choose a meaningful day and we chose 3th of December, International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

We went to a Autism Center and we spent a day with autistic children. They had their own teacher, who was helping and teaching them.

We played games that all of them could attend and even rode bikes together.

Their  teachers wanted one thing from us. They said: “Treat them like normal people and as they do not have any difference with us”. After we spent the whole day with them, we all understood that they do not have any differences they could actually be more physically capable than us.

After playing a lot of games all of us were tired so we went back to the center, we ate cookies and pies which we brought while we were going there and everyone enjoyed!

After the whole activity everyone was so happy that they were in such an amazing activity.

We all were delighted to be there and we are planning to visit and spend a day with them again. We really understood that they are very clever and it is so fun to spend time with them.

We wanted to show people, our JB’ers and other JB’ers that they are not different from us. They all have something that they can perform much better than most of us, what we have to do is know their differences, not isolate and criticize them. We hope every JB around the world experience something like we did and learn a bit more about these amazing people.
